RM and I are ENGAGED!
I can now officially say that I am a true “Stepmom To-Be.” Knowing that RM and I will soon be committed to each other for time and all eternity is the best gift I could have ever received this Christmas.
I know, I know. You’re all dying for details, right? Well, here’s how it went down…
RM surprised me with a massage at the Salish Lodge, which sits atop of Snoqualmie Falls. If you’re not from the Seattle area, Snoqualmie Falls is about 30 minutes east of Seattle. The Falls quickly became one of my favorite places here—close enough to pop over at a moment’s notice, but beautiful enough to feel like you’re a world away. RM actually suggested I visit there when we first met, and I first ventured there solo. I still have the selfie I sent to RM thanking him for the suggestion.
Since then, I’ve visited several times, and one of my favorite times was the Vespa ride RM and I took on Columbus Day. If you missed that blog entry, you can find it here.
I’ve been wanting to try out the spa at Salish Lodge for a while, so it was fitting that RM surprised me with an early Christmas present for a massage there. The place screams romance, so naturally, I was anxiously hoping that the massage wouldn’t be the only gift I received from RM that evening. I also may or may not have painted my nails at my desk that day. Hey, a girl’s gotta be prepared, right?
After a tranquil evening at the spa, RM and I continued relaxing by the fireplace at the lodge. It was there that he knelt down and presented the ring. He told me he loved me more than anything in this world, and rather than ask, he passionately said, “I want you to marry me.” After a pause, he added, “if you will…” To which I excitedly replied, “I will!” We jumped up and down, kissing and hugging in excitement, and my eyes filled with tears. I didn’t even realize that I hadn’t seen the ring until he asked if I wanted to try it on! It’s a beautiful tanzanite stone, which couldn’t be more perfect, as the stone is only found in Tanzania, which just so happens to be my all-time favorite place. Does he know me well or what?
–And although I find the post-engagement ring photo a little obnoxious, here it is for those of you who are curious. Plus it’s less obnoxious when it’s your own ring, right?
Two days later, we picked up the kids on Christmas Day and shared the good news with them. They couldn’t have been more excited! The girls are already helping me plan the wedding–we spent some time gathered around the computer picking out their flower girl dresses. They even asked if we could go try them on this week! Several minutes after discussing the wedding and once we were on to other topics, RM’s son sweetly said, “I can’t WAIT for you guys to get married.” Me either, me either 🙂
